Common questions

What is the GST registration limit in 2026?

For businesses selling only goods it is ₹40 lakh in most states, ₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana and Uttarakhand, and ₹10 lakh in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. For services it is ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in those four states).

Is GST registration compulsory for online sellers?

Most sellers of goods on e-commerce marketplaces must register whatever their turnover. Some small service providers selling through platforms are exempt. Check the current notification for your case.

Can I register voluntarily?

Yes. Voluntary registration lets you claim input tax credit and sell to businesses that need GST invoices, but you then have to file returns regularly.

What documents do I need?

Usually PAN, Aadhaar, a photo, proof of business address (rent agreement or electricity bill), bank details, and the constitution document for firms and companies.
