A>B≥C=DA > D ✓Same direction all the way: a relation followsP > Q < R: no relation between P and R
Scene 1 / 4

Build the chain

A > B, B ≥ C and C = D join into A > B ≥ C = D. Every sign from A to D points the same way and one is strict, so A > D definitely follows. B ≥ D also follows, but B > D does not.

  • One strict sign on the path ⇒ strict result
  • Opposite signs ⇒ no relation

Summary

In inequality questions, link the statements into one chain through the common letters. A relation between two letters follows only if every sign on the path between them points the same way. If at least one of those signs is strict (> or <), the result is strict: A > B ≥ C = D gives A > D. If all of them are ≥ (or ≤) and = signs, the result is only ≥ (or ≤). If the signs point in opposite directions, as in P > Q < R, nothing follows about P and R.असमानता के सवालों में साझा अक्षरों के ज़रिए कथनों को एक श्रृंखला में जोड़िए।

Syllogism questions give statements such as "All pens are books" and ask which conclusions must be true. Draw the smallest diagram that fits every statement, then try to draw a second fitting diagram that breaks the conclusion. If you can break it, it does not follow. Useful patterns: All + All gives All (all pens are books, all books are bags, so all pens are bags); Some + All gives Some; All + No gives No; Some + No gives "Some … are not".

Two cautions. "All A are B" cannot be reversed to "All B are A"; under the convention used in Indian exams (every group mentioned exists), it does give "Some B are A". And use only the statements, never real-world knowledge: if the question says "All cats are trees", treat it as true. When two conclusions about the same pair are complementary (one of them must be true) and neither is definite on its own, the answer is "either I or II follows".
