Common questions

Do I need DPIIT recognition?

For Startup India schemes such as the Seed Fund, Fund of Funds and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups, yes. MSME schemes such as CGTMSE, PMEGP and MUDRA do not need it.

Are these grants or loans?

Both. The list marks each scheme as a grant, equity, loan, loan guarantee or subsidy. Loans and guarantees still need a lender to approve your application.

Why are some schemes marked "check status"?

Because their current window or continuation could not be confirmed from an official notice on the date we checked. They are real schemes, but confirm they are open before you spend time on an application.

Does anyone charge a fee to apply?

Government schemes do not require paying an agent. Apply on the official portals linked here and be careful of anyone promising guaranteed approval for a fee.

What we left out, and why

We only list schemes we could verify. These were checked but not included:

  • Telangana T-Fund and T-SEED (T-Hub). The only official material we found is a 2022 T-Hub release; no current call, fund size or eligibility could be confirmed from an official source.
  • Gujarat Scheme for Assistance for Start-ups/Innovation (seed support up to ₹30 lakh). Its stated validity was 7 Aug 2020 to 6 Aug 2025; we found no official notice of an extension or replacement.
  • Gujarat SSIP 2.0 Startup Srujan Seed Support. Amounts differ between sources and we could not read an official i-Hub or Education Department page.
  • Karnataka ELEVATE NxT (deep tech, up to ₹1 crore). Announced with the 2025-30 policy, but no official guidelines or call were available to verify.
  • Maharashtra CM Maha-Fund (₹500 crore). Per-entrepreneur amounts and loan terms come only from news reports of a draft; not verified in a notified scheme.
  • Budget 2025-26 term loans up to ₹2 crore for first-time SC/ST and women entrepreneurs. Announced in the Budget speech; we could not find notified scheme guidelines.
