Common questions

How is my age calculated for each exam?

Each exam fixes a date on which age is counted, such as 1 August of the exam year for UPSC CSE or SSC CGL, or the course start date for NDA and CDS. The finder counts your completed years and months on that date for the next cycle, then adds any category or disability relaxation.

How much age relaxation do OBC, SC/ST and PwBD candidates get?

For most central recruitment (UPSC, SSC, banks, railways) the upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PwBD, with PwBD added on top of the category relaxation (13 for OBC PwBD, 15 for SC/ST PwBD). EWS candidates get no age relaxation. Defence entries such as NDA usually have no relaxation.

Can I apply while in the final year or waiting for my result?

Many exams, including UPSC CSE, SSC CGL and JEE Main, accept final-year or appearing students, who must show the result by a date in the notification. Some do not. Tick “appearing” and the finder will tell you which ones accept you now.

Is this list official?

No. It is a guide built from official notifications, with a source and check date for every exam. Age limits, posts and dates change with every notification, so always read the latest official notification before you apply.
