Why IndiaDigital Never Uploads Your Files, and How You Can Check
Why does it matter where a PDF tool processes your file?
The documents Indians most often need to compress, merge or convert are also the most sensitive: Aadhaar and PAN cards, bank statements, salary slips, mark sheets, medical reports and property papers. With a typical upload-based website, that file travels to a computer you know nothing about, is stored for some time and is processed by people and software you cannot see.
Even when a website promises to delete files after an hour, you have to trust that promise, its staff, its backups and its security. A file that never leaves your device cannot leak from someone else’s server. That is the whole idea behind IndiaDigital.
How can a website edit a file without uploading it?
Modern browsers are capable computers in their own right. Three standard features make on-device tools possible:
- The File API lets a page read a file you choose, in your own tab, without sending it anywhere. The page only sees files you pick yourself.
- WebAssembly runs fast compiled code, the same kind of image and PDF engines that desktop software uses, inside the browser.
- Web Workers run that heavy work in the background so the page stays responsive while your file is processed.
Put together, the browser downloads the tool’s code from our site once, then all the work on your file happens locally. The result is created in memory and saved with your browser’s normal download.
| Step | Upload-based site | IndiaDigital |
|---|---|---|
| You choose a file | Sent over the internet to a server | Read by your own browser tab |
| Processing | On the company’s computers | On your phone or computer |
| Result | Stored on the server, then downloaded | Created in memory, saved by your browser |
| After you close the tab | Depends on their deletion policy | Gone from memory; only your download remains |
Kaise check kare ki file upload nahi hui?
You do not have to take our word for it. Two simple checks work on most computers:
- Watch the network. On a computer, open the tool, press F12 to open developer tools and choose the Network tab. Now process a file. You will see the page’s own code and fonts, but no request carrying your file.
- Switch off the internet. Open the tool and let it load fully. Turn on airplane mode or disconnect Wi-Fi, then process a file. If the tool still works, the file clearly was not sent anywhere.
- Compare the size. An upload of a 20 MB scan would take a while on a mobile connection. On-device tools start almost instantly because nothing is travelling.
What does IndiaDigital send over the network, then?
Being exact matters more than sounding perfect, so here is the honest list, which is also on our privacy page:
- The page itself, its code and fonts, downloaded from our site like any website.
- Optional engine or model packs, fetched from our site only when you choose a feature that needs them.
- Anonymous usage counts, such as which tool ran and whether it worked, with rough size ranges. Never file names, contents, typed text, names, dates of birth, amounts, phone numbers or links. Do Not Track, or the switch on the privacy page, turns this off.
- Things you deliberately publish, such as a startup directory listing, or files you choose to send to another device with a peer connection.
The Scam Checker reads your message on the device. Ready drafts are built on the device into Word and PDF. My Kundli computes your chart from your birth details on the device. Your name and date of birth do not leave the tab.
Are there limits to on-device processing?
Yes, and we would rather tell you than surprise you. Your device does the work, so very large files depend on its memory: a 500-page scanned PDF may be slow or fail on an older phone and work fine on a laptop. The first use of some features downloads an engine, which takes a little data once. And processed files stay only as long as the tab is open, so download your result before you close it.
In exchange you get speed on slow networks, no queue, no daily limit and no copy of your documents sitting on anyone else’s server.
Frequently asked questions
Does IndiaDigital store my files?
No. Files are processed in your browser and held in memory only while the page is open. Nothing is saved on our servers, and file names and contents are not written to your browser’s long-term storage either.
How is this different from websites that delete files after an hour?
Those sites still receive your file, so you must trust their deletion, backups and security. IndiaDigital never receives the file, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
Can I use IndiaDigital without internet?
Many tools keep working after the page has fully loaded, even if the connection drops. Some features download an engine the first time, so open them once while online.
Do you use analytics?
Yes, to count which tools are used and whether they work. Analytics never receives file names, file contents, typed text, names, dates of birth, amounts, phone numbers or links, and you can switch it off on the privacy page.
Why is my large file slow?
Your own device does the processing, so speed depends on its processor and memory. Very large scanned PDFs are quicker on a computer than on an older phone.
