About the brand list
There is no official open list that links Indian brand names to their salts. We wrote down the composition printed on the packs of 369 common brands. A pharmacist has not yet checked these entries, so always compare with your own strip.
We never show brand prices: the government (NPPA) fixes ceiling prices for each formulation, not for each brand. This page does not give dosing advice and does not say what any medicine treats.

How the matching works
- Jan Aushadhi products come from the official PMBI product MRP list (2,445 items, downloaded on 1 November 2026).
- Brand to salt: no official open list exists, so we keep a list of about 370 common Indian brands with the composition printed on their packs. It still needs a pharmacist to check every entry.
- A "same medicine" result needs every salt and every strength to match, in any order. Same salt with a different strength, form (tablet, capsule, syrup) or release type (SR, ER, gastro-resistant) is shown separately.
- Spelling is forgiving: spaces, hyphens and one or two wrong letters are fine. Brand prices are not shown, because the government fixes ceiling prices per formulation, not per brand.
Questions people ask
Is a Jan Aushadhi generic the same as my branded medicine?
When the salt, strength, form and release type match, it carries the same active ingredient in the same amount. The tablet may still differ in fillers, coating or how it releases the medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you switch.
Why does it say "same salt, different strength"?
Jan Aushadhi may not make every strength. Do not cut, double or combine tablets to reach your dose unless your doctor tells you to.
Where is the nearest Jan Aushadhi Kendra?
Use the official Kendra locator on janaushadhi.gov.in. It searches by state, district or PIN code.
Why are some MRPs missing?
The official list shows ₹0 for some newer products. We show "MRP not listed" for those; ask the Kendra for the current price.
Is my search saved or sent anywhere?
No. The product list is downloaded once to your browser and the search runs on your device.
