Numerology your numbers

Numerology (ank jyotish) reads meaning from numbers. Your moolank (birth number) comes from the day you were born, your bhagyank (destiny number) from the full date, and your name number from the letters of your name. Enter your date and name to see all three, with lucky days and colours.

Name system

Numerology is a traditional belief system, not science. Your name is yours: spelling ideas are only options, and nothing here should decide big choices for you.

How to find your numbers

  1. Enter your date of birth: the day gives your moolank, the full date your bhagyank.
  2. Type your name as you usually write it (English letters).
  3. See your name number in the Chaldean system, with Pythagorean as an option, and how it sits with your moolank.
  4. If you like, look at the gentle spelling ideas that land on a friendly number.

Indian numerology links each number from 1 to 9 to one of the nine grahas, the same planets used in your kundli. The moolank is said to shape your nature, the bhagyank your path, and the name number how the world meets you.

Lucky days follow the lists most numerology books in India reprint, and the colours are the traditional colours of each number’s planet. Treat them as fun, friendly suggestions.

Numerology: common questions

How is the moolank calculated?

Add the digits of your birth day until one digit remains. Born on the 29th: 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2, so your moolank is 2. Days 1 to 9 are already single digits.

How is the bhagyank calculated?

Add every digit of your full date of birth and reduce to one digit. For 14 March 1992: 1 + 4 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 29, then 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2.

Why Chaldean for the name number?

Most numerologists in India use the Chaldean system, where letters get values 1 to 8 by sound and 9 is not given to any letter. The Pythagorean system simply counts A to I as 1 to 9 and repeats. We show both, with Chaldean as the main one.

What makes two numbers friendly?

Each number has a ruling planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars. Numbers are friendly when their planets are natural friends in Vedic astrology, with Rahu read like Saturn and Ketu like Mars.

Should I change the spelling of my name?

Only if you want to. Many people are happy and successful with any name number. The ideas we show are small, common spelling changes, offered gently; your effort and choices matter far more than any number.
