Kundli milan
Kundli milan (guna milan) compares the bride’s and groom’s Moon nakshatras across 8 koots worth 36 gunas. Traditionally 18 or more is acceptable, 25 or more is good, and Nadi, Bhakoot and Manglik are checked separately with their cancellations. Enter both birth details to see the score, both charts and a PDF. Nothing leaves your phone.

Guna milan is one traditional view of compatibility. Many families weigh it alongside values, health, education and how the two people get along, and a pandit may read the full charts differently.
Kundli milan kaise kare: how to match kundlis
- Enter the bride’s birth date, time and place (search over 900 Indian towns, or type coordinates).
- Enter the groom’s birth date, time and place. Tick “Birth time not known” if needed.
- Tap Match to see both birth charts, the 8 koots out of 36, doshas with their cancellations and Manglik.
- Download the PDF report or share the result card.
Each person’s chart, lagna, moon sign, nakshatra and pada come from sidereal positions (Lahiri ayanamsa, mean Rahu and Ketu). We checked them against published AstroSage and Drik Panchang charts: planets agree to about 2 arcminutes and Vimshottari dasha dates to within 3 days. The Ashtakoot tables follow the common North Indian scheme; the usual cancellations of Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha are listed separately and never change the score.
Kundli milan: common questions
How many gunas should match for marriage?
Traditionally 18 or more out of 36 is acceptable: 18 to 24 is average, 25 to 31 good and 32 or more excellent. A lower score is not a verdict: pandits look at the whole charts and the cancellations (parihara), and many families give equal weight to everything else they know about the couple.
What are the 8 koots in Ashtakoot milan?
Varna (1 point, temperament), Vashya (2, mutual attraction), Tara (3, wellbeing), Yoni (4, physical compatibility), Graha Maitri (5, friendship of the moon sign lords), Gana (6, nature), Bhakoot (7, emotional and family harmony) and Nadi (8, health and progeny). They add up to 36. For each koot we show both people’s values, the score and a short line on what it means for the two of you.
What is Nadi dosha and can it be cancelled?
Nadi dosha means both people have the same Nadi (Adi, Madhya or Antya), which gives 0 of 8 points. Common cancellations: the same moon sign but different nakshatras, the same nakshatra but different moon signs, the same nakshatra in different padas, or both moon signs having the same lord. We show which of these apply.
What are Bhakoot and Gana dosha?
Bhakoot dosha is when the two moon signs are 2/12, 5/9 or 6/8 from each other. It is usually cancelled when both signs have the same lord or friendly lords, or the Moon’s navamsa lords are friends. Gana dosha is a Rakshasa gana with a Deva or Manushya gana; it is usually set aside when the moon sign lords are friends, or the groom’s nakshatra is beyond the 14th from the bride’s.
How is Manglik checked here?
We look at Mars from the lagna (ascendant) and from the Moon. Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house is the usual Manglik rule. We also list common cancellations: Mars in its own sign or exalted, with Jupiter or aspected by Jupiter, with the Moon, certain sign and house pairs, both partners being Manglik, or Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu in the matching houses of the partner’s chart. Please treat it as information, not a reason to worry.
Which birth chart style is shown, and how accurate is it?
You can switch between the North Indian diamond chart and the South Indian square chart. Positions are sidereal with the Lahiri ayanamsa and mean Rahu and Ketu, with whole-sign houses from the lagna. We checked them against published AstroSage and Drik Panchang charts: planets agree to about 2 arcminutes and Vimshottari dasha dates to within 3 days.
What if the birth time is not known?
Tick “Birth time not known” and we use 12 noon. The moon nakshatra, which drives most of the score, changes about once a day, so the guna milan usually stays the same. The lagna, houses and Manglik from the lagna need the time, so we leave them out and draw the chart from the Moon sign. If the Moon changed nakshatra that day, we say at what time, so you can tell which applies.
Can I download the result as a PDF?
Yes. Tap Download PDF report for a multi-page A4 report in English or Hindi: a cover with both names and the score, both charts, planet positions, the 8 koots, doshas and cancellations, and notes. It is made on your phone; nothing is uploaded.
Is my birth data stored or shared?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser. Birth details are not uploaded, not stored on a server and not in the link. If you tick “Remember these details on this device”, they are saved only in this browser until you untick it. The share card shows only the names and the score.
