Invite websites: what we store and when it is deleted
Most IndiaDigital tools never upload your files. Invite websites are different, because your guests need to open the page from their own phones. Here is exactly what that means.
What is stored
- The invite: the names, words, functions, venues and settings you typed (at most 48 KB of text).
- Photos: up to 30, compressed on your phone to about 120 KB (plus a small thumbnail) with camera and location details removed before upload.
- Replies: each guest’s name, yes/no, number of people, functions and optional message. We do not store guests’ IP addresses or device details. A random code kept in the guest’s browser lets them change their reply.
- Reports: if a visitor reports a page, the reason and note.
Your private edit token is stored only as a one-way hash, so we cannot read it or send it to you again, so keep the edit link safe.
When it is deleted
You choose 7, 30, 90 days after the last function (default 30). At that time an hourly job permanently deletes the invite, every photo file, every reply and every report. Nothing is kept in backups or archives by us; the guest page then says “This invite has ended”. You can delete everything immediately from your dashboard at any time. An invite can never live longer than 420 days after it was made.
Guest pages and photos are sent with “private” cache headers whose lifetime ends at the deletion time, so copies in guests’ browsers expire too. We only keep daily totals (such as “how many invites were made today”) with no content.
Who can see it
Anyone with the link. Links include four random characters so they cannot be guessed, pages tell search engines not to index them, and you can add a password. Personal links (“Dear Sharma family”) only change the greeting. They are not private.
Limits that keep this free
To keep the service free for everyone, there are fair-use limits: about 12 new invites per network per day, 2000 replies per invite and 6 MB of photos per invite.
Safety
Invites cannot contain links other than Google Maps, YouTube and WhatsApp, cannot use custom domains, and always show the IndiaDigital footer and a “Report this page” link. Pages that impersonate a person, a business or a government office, or that are used for fraud, are removed.
