Retrograde (vakri) periods
- Retrograde since 13 December 2026, turns direct on 13 April 2027
Vakri (retrograde): from Earth, the planet seems to move backward for a few months. It does not really go back. Traditionally this is a time to review and finish, rather than start fresh.
What it means for you
Guru in your 8th house (sudden change, research and private matters) Asks for patience
until 25 January 2027; 26 June 2027 to 26 November 2027Guru in the 8th from your moon sign can bring sudden costs or slow results. It also brings interest in deeper study and inner growth.
Guru in your 7th house (partner, marriage and dealings with others) Traditionally supportive
25 January 2027 to 26 June 2027Guru in the 7th from your moon sign is a happy place for marriage talks, partnerships and new contracts. People are more willing to work with you.
Guru in your 9th house (luck, father, elders and faith) Traditionally supportive
from 26 November 2027Guru in the 9th from your moon sign is one of its best places. Luck supports you, elders and teachers help, and long trips, higher study and faith all do well.
What you can do
- Keep an emergency fund, get a routine check-up and avoid big risks with money.
- Good time to talk about marriage or sign a fair partnership, with clear terms.
- Apply for higher study, plan the pilgrimage or long trip, and ask a mentor for advice.
- Learn something new, read, or teach what you know. Guru grows with knowledge shared.
- Respect teachers and elders, and ask for advice before big decisions.
- If faith helps you, a short prayer on Thursdays is enough. No costly puja or gemstone is needed.
Keep it in balance
- From 25 January 2027 to 26 June 2027, Guru is in Kark, its strongest sign (uchcha, exalted). Tradition says an exalted Guru gives good results even from a harder house.
- Guru also helps through its drishti (gaze): it looks at the 5th, 7th and 9th houses from where it sits, and those areas of life get support too.
- Your own dasha (the planet period running in your life) and where Guru sat at your birth decide how much of this you feel. A good transit opens doors; you still have to walk through them.
See it in your own chart
This page counts from your moon sign only, which is how rashifal works. Your full kundli adds your lagna, your dasha and the vedha checks. It runs on your phone; your birth details never leave it.
How these dates are worked out
Positions are sidereal (Lahiri ayanamsa), apparent geocentric, with mean Rahu and Ketu, from the same engine our panchang and kundli use. Sign changes and retrograde stations are found to within a minute and shown as calendar dates in IST. Houses are whole signs counted from the moon sign.
Guru stands for growth, wisdom, children, teachers, marriage and good advice. Where it moves, things tend to expand. Guru stays about one year in each sign.
