PM Kisan Eligibility and Status Check: Who Gets ₹6,000 and Why Payments Stop
What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It pays ₹6,000 a year to eligible farmer families, in three instalments of ₹2,000, straight into the bank account. You do not repay anything. The PM-KISAN portal announced the 24th instalment for 30 October 2026.

The scheme is for farmer families that own cultivable land in their own name. “Family” here means husband, wife and minor children. The land must show in your name in the state land records, because the state government verifies it before money is released.
| Situation | Eligible? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Land in your own name, no one in the family pays income tax | Yes | This is the core group the scheme is for |
| Someone in the family pays income tax | No | Income-tax payers are excluded |
| Serving or retired government officer | No (except multi-tasking or Group D staff) | Government officers are excluded |
| Pensioner getting ₹10,000 a month or more | No | Higher pensions are excluded |
| Practising doctor, engineer, lawyer, CA or architect | No | Registered professionals are excluded |
| Holder of a constitutional post | No | Excluded by the scheme rules |
| Farming on leased land, land not in your name | Usually no | Ownership in land records is the test |
TipIf your land is still in a parent’s name after their death, get the mutation (dakhil kharij) done in the land records first. The state can verify you only when the record shows you as the owner.
PM Kisan registration kaise kare?
- Go to pmkisan.gov.in and choose New Farmer Registration, or visit a Common Service Centre (CSC).
- Enter your Aadhaar number, land details and bank account details. Keep your land record and bank passbook ready.
- Submit. Your state government checks the land record before approving you.
- Complete e-KYC: by OTP on the portal, by biometric at a CSC, or by face authentication in the PM-KISAN app.
- Check Know Your Status on the portal to see whether you are approved and which instalments were paid.
PM Kisan status kaise check kare?
Open pmkisan.gov.in and use Know Your Status. You enter your registration number (or the details the portal asks for) and an OTP, and it shows your registration, land verification, e-KYC and payment status for each instalment. Check it a few days before every instalment, so you have time to fix a problem.
Use only the official portal or the official PM-KISAN app. Fake “PM Kisan status” links and APK files sent on WhatsApp are a common way to steal bank details. Our guide to the APK file scam shows what they look like.
Why did my PM Kisan instalment not come?
When an instalment does not arrive, the status page usually shows which step is pending. These are the most common reasons and what to do.
| What the status shows | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| e-KYC pending | e-KYC is mandatory before each instalment | Finish e-KYC by OTP, at a CSC, or with face authentication in the app |
| Land seeding or verification pending | The state has not verified your land record | Contact your agriculture or revenue office; make sure the land is in your name |
| Payment failed | Bank account details are wrong or the account is inactive | Check the account with your bank, then correct it through the portal or a CSC |
| Rejected or ineligible | You fall in an excluded group, or the record did not match | Read the reason; ask the district agriculture office if you think it is wrong |
Most stuck payments come down to three things: e-KYC, land verification and bank details. e-KYC has to be current before every instalment, so a farmer who was paid last time can still miss the next one if e-KYC lapses. Land verification is done by your state, so if the land is still recorded in a parent’s or grandparent’s name, the state cannot confirm you as the owner. And if the bank account entered at registration was closed, dormant or typed wrongly, the payment bounces back even though you are approved.
Fix the step that is pending, then check the status again before the next instalment. Do not pay agents or callers who promise to “release” a stuck instalment for a fee; the fix is always the same official steps on the portal, at a CSC or at your agriculture office.
PM Kisan e-KYC kaise kare?
e-KYC links your PM-KISAN record to your Aadhaar so the money reaches the right person. It is mandatory before each instalment. There are three ways to do it, and you can pick whichever is easiest for you:
- OTP on the portal: on pmkisan.gov.in, enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. This works only if your Aadhaar is linked to a mobile number you can use.
- Biometric at a CSC: if your Aadhaar is not linked to a working mobile, a Common Service Centre can do e-KYC with your fingerprint.
- Face authentication in the PM-KISAN app: the official app can verify you with your face, which helps older farmers whose fingerprints do not read well.
TipAfter finishing e-KYC, open “Know Your Status” after a few days to confirm it shows as complete. If it still shows pending, visit a CSC with your Aadhaar.
Other schemes for PM Kisan farmers
- PM Kisan Maandhan: a pension of ₹3,000 a month from age 60 for small and marginal farmers who join between 18 and 40 and pay a small monthly amount (about ₹55 to ₹200), matched by the government.
- Kisan Credit Card: low-interest crop loans from your bank; with interest subvention and prompt repayment, the effective rate is about 4% a year on eligible loans.
- State top-ups: Maharashtra’s Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi adds ₹6,000 a year for the same farmers, and Andhra Pradesh’s Annadata Sukhibhava pays ₹20,000 a year in all, including the PM-KISAN share.
