Bank address change letter, filled in for you

To change your address with a bank, you give the branch a signed request with a self-attested proof of the new address. Fill in your bank, account and both addresses below, pick the proof you are enclosing, and download the letter as Word or PDF.

Many banks also let you update the address online or through the app if your Aadhaar address is current.

What is a bank address change letter?

This is a formal request to the Branch Manager to update your address in the Customer Information File (CIF), so that it changes in every account, deposit and other relationship linked to your customer ID. It shows the old and new address side by side and lists the enclosed proof. Your account number is masked to the last four digits by default.

When do you need a bank address change letter?

  • You have moved house and want bank letters, cards and cheque books to reach the new address.
  • Your bank asks you to update KYC with your current address.
  • Your address in the bank differs from your Aadhaar or other documents.

Documents needed for a bank address change letter

  • A self-attested copy of the new address proof (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, driving licence, recent utility bill or registered rent agreement, as your bank accepts).
  • Your passbook or account details.
  • The original proof to show at the branch, if asked.

How to make a bank address change letter: stamp paper, signing, submitting

  1. Fill in the bank, branch, your name and account number.
  2. Write the old address as the bank has it and the new address with PIN code.
  3. Choose the address proof you will enclose.
  4. Download the PDF, print and sign it with the same signature the bank has on record.
  5. Submit it at your home branch with the self-attested proof and keep an acknowledged copy.

Common mistakes

  • Signing differently from the specimen signature on record. The bank may reject the request.
  • Enclosing a proof the bank does not accept as officially valid. Ask the branch or check its website.
  • Updating only one account. Ask for the CIF update so all linked accounts change.
  • Writing the full account number on copies you share elsewhere. The letter masks it by default.

Questions people ask

Do I have to visit the branch?

Not always. Many banks let you update the address through net banking, the app or a video KYC, especially with Aadhaar. If you submit on paper, this letter is what you hand in at the branch.

Will the address change in all my accounts?

The letter asks the bank to update the address in your CIF and all linked accounts. Check your next statement to confirm.

Should the letter show my full account number?

The preview shows only the last four digits. If your branch needs the full number, switch masking off before you download.

Can I write the letter in Hindi?

Yes. Switch the document language to Hindi and the whole letter is written in Hindi.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Everything is made on your device, in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, and the draft stays only on this device until you clear it.
