Cheque book request letter, filled in for you
To get a new cheque book on paper, you give your branch a short signed request with your account number and the number of leaves you need. Fill in the form, choose delivery to your registered address or collection at the branch, and download the letter as Word or PDF.
Most banks also let you order a cheque book through net banking, the app, an ATM or SMS.

What is a cheque book request letter?
This is a formal request to the Branch Manager for a new cheque book. It gives your name, masked account number, the number of leaves (10, 25, 50 or 100), the reason, and whether to post it or keep it for collection. It allows the bank to debit any cheque book charge as per its schedule, without naming an amount.
When do you need a cheque book request letter?
- Your current cheque book is used up.
- You were not given a cheque book when you opened the account.
- You need more cheques, for example for rent or post-dated EMI cheques.
Documents needed for a cheque book request letter
- Your account number and the name exactly as in the bank records.
- The last cheque book’s requisition slip, if your bank asks for it.

- Fill in the bank, branch, your name and account number.

- Not checking the cheque numbers and your name on the new book when it arrives.
Questions people ask
Is a cheque book free?
Banks set their own limits on free cheque leaves and their own charges after that. Check your bank’s schedule of charges; the letter does not mention any amount.
Can someone else collect the cheque book for me?
Many banks hand it over only to the account holder or send it by post. If you want someone else to collect it, ask the branch and use the authority letter draft along with this request.
Does the letter show my full account number?
The preview shows only the last four digits. If your branch needs the full number, switch masking off before you download.
Can I write it in Hindi?
Yes. Switch the document language to Hindi and the whole letter is written in Hindi.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Everything is made on your device, in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, and the draft stays only on this device until you clear it.
