How to make a wedding website for free
You can make a wedding website for free with IndiaDigital Invites in about ten minutes: pick one of 48 wedding themes, add each function with its date, venue and dress code, add photos and your story, choose whether to collect RSVPs, and publish to get one link for WhatsApp. There is no paid plan, guests need no app or login, and the site is deleted 7, 30 or 90 days after the wedding.
A wedding website used to mean a paid template, a domain and a weekend of fiddling. For an Indian wedding with five functions in three venues, what guests actually need is simpler: where to be, when, what to wear, and a way to say whether they are coming. This guide walks through making one for free, what to put on it, and how to share it so that elders feel invited rather than forwarded.

Make a free wedding website in 6 steps
- Open the free invite maker at indiadigital.org/invites/make and choose Wedding. Pick your community if you like (Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Muslim, Christian and more): the function names and blessing line change to match.
- Choose a wedding theme and colour. You can change it later, even after sharing, and the link stays the same.
- Type the couple’s and parents’ names, then each function: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, pheras or nikah, reception. Add the date, time, venue and dress code for each.
- Add photos and a short story of how you met, and choose music or keep it silent.
- Decide on RSVP: switch it on to get a headcount for each function, or off to show only the invite. Add a password if you want the page private.
- Publish, copy the link and share it on WhatsApp. Make personal links for families and print the QR card for paper invitations.
What a wedding website should have
The essentials: the couple’s names and the hosts, every function with its date, time, venue and a Google Maps button, the dress code for each, and a contact number. Add to calendar matters more than it sounds, because it puts the right time and address on each guest’s phone.
The good extras: a countdown, a few photos, the story of how you met, hotel and travel notes for outstation guests, and an RSVP that asks which functions each family will attend. For destination weddings, a day-by-day plan is the single most useful thing.
Wedding website, PDF card or video invite?
They do different jobs, and many families use two of them together.
| Invite website | PDF or image card | Video invite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holds every function | Yes, each with map and calendar | Usually on several pages | Only briefly |
| Collects RSVPs | Yes, per function (optional) | No | No |
| Can be updated after sending | Yes, same link | Send a new file | Make a new video |
| Hindi and English | One-tap switch | Both printed | Both on screen |
| Works for elders | Opens from WhatsApp, no app | Easy to view | Easy to watch |
| Best for | Planning and headcount | Printing and keepsake | Excitement and forwarding |
Keeping it private
A wedding website has your names, dates and venues, so privacy matters. IndiaDigital invite pages are hidden from search engines, can have a password, and personal links greet each family by name. Photos are made smaller and stripped of location details on your phone before upload.
Everything (the page, photos and replies) is permanently deleted 7, 30 or 90 days after the last function, whichever you choose. You can delete it earlier from your edit link.
When and how to share it
Six to eight weeks before: a save the date for guests who must travel or take leave. Three to four weeks before: the full link. Two or three days before: one reminder with the map. Call grandparents and elders first, then send the link so younger family members can help them with it.
Send a personal message to each family rather than one broadcast, and put the link last. A printed card with a QR code that opens the same website lets close relatives keep a card and still get the maps.
Using RSVPs for the caterer
Ask guests which functions they will attend and how many people are coming. The dashboard then shows a headcount for each function, which is what the caterer and the banquet hall ask for, and downloads it as Excel or CSV. If you would rather not ask, switch RSVP off and guests see just the invite.
