Dev Deepawali is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, fifteen days after Diwali, when the ghats of Varanasi are lined with lakhs of diyas and the river fills with boats. In 2026 it falls on Tuesday 24 November. Families in Kashi, and many who travel there for the evening, gather on the steps at dusk for deepdaan, float leaf-cup lamps on the water, watch the ghats from a boat and end the night with a simple meal. Smaller versions happen at river banks, temple tanks and society lakes in other cities too.
An invite page makes the evening easy to plan. Put the ghat and the meeting point on a map, add the deepdaan, boat and dinner as separate times so relatives can join for part of it, and use a note to explain where to leave the car and which lane leads down to the steps. Guests reply with how many are coming, so you know how many seats to book on the boat and how many diyas to carry. The page switches between Hindi and English with one tap.
What your guests get
- Deepdaan, boat ride and dinner with their own times
- A map pin for the ghat and a meeting point note
