Dhanteras, on the thirteenth day of Kartik Krishna paksha, opens the five days of Diwali. Families buy something new, a utensil, silver coin or jewellery, perform a small Dhanvantari, Kuber and Lakshmi puja in the evening, and light the yam deep facing south at the door. For jewellers, utensil shops and showrooms it is one of the busiest evenings of the year, and many invite regular customers for a puja, sweets and special timings.
A Dhanteras invite page works for both. A family can share the puja time and the yam deepdaan with relatives in the same building, while a shop can list its puja, the extended opening hours and a line about festive offers, with a Google Maps button to the market lane. Customers reply with a headcount, you see it on the dashboard, and the page disappears by itself after the festival.
