On Karwa Chauth, married women fast from sunrise, many after an early-morning sargi from their mother-in-law, until the moon rises. In the late afternoon or evening, women gather in their best red and bridal finery for the puja and katha, sitting in a circle and passing their thalis around as the story is told. Then everyone waits for the moon, which rises at a different time in each city, so check your local moonrise time for the date before sending the invitation. Many women also have mehendi applied the day before.
This free invite page lists the puja and katha, the moonrise and dinner, and optionally the mehendi and sargi, each with its own time and a Google Maps button. Guests reply so you know how many thalis and plates to plan, and a terrace or society lawn is easy to find with the map. The page reads in Hindi or English with one tap, and you can edit the moonrise time later, the link stays the same.
