The mundan or chudakarana is the child’s first haircut, usually done in the first, third or fifth year at a time chosen by the family priest. Many families travel to a kuldevi temple or a tirtha such as Haridwar or Tirupati for it, while others hold it at home with the maternal uncle holding the child and the bua collecting the hair in a cloth. A meal for relatives almost always follows.
Because mundans often happen away from home, clear directions matter. This free invite page shows the muhurat, the temple or home address with a Google Maps button, and the bhoj timing, and lets relatives reply with how many are coming. Add a couple of photos of your little one with a full head of hair while you still can.
