Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY

Find an Ayushman hospital, step by step

The government does not publish the list of Ayushman Bharat hospitals as open data, so we do not copy it. Instead, this guide walks you through the official NHA hospital finder, how to check if your family is covered, what to carry to the hospital, and the free Vay Vandana card for everyone aged 70 and above.

It is run by the National Health Authority. It opens in a new tab; keep this page open to follow the steps.

Ayushman Vay Vandana card: everyone aged 70 and above

  • Every citizen aged 70 or above is eligible, whatever their income.
  • Cover of up to Rs 5 lakh a year, on a family basis, with a separate card.
  • If the family is already in PM-JAY, the senior gets an extra top-up of up to Rs 5 lakh a year that is not shared with members under 70.
  • CGHS, ECHS or Ayushman CAPF members choose either their scheme or PM-JAY. Private insurance or ESI does not stop you.
  • Enrol yourself on the Ayushman app or beneficiary portal, or at an empanelled hospital or Common Service Centre.

What to carry to the hospital

  • Ayushman card (printed or on the phone), if you have one
  • Aadhaar card of the patient
  • The mobile phone linked to Aadhaar, for OTP
  • Ration card or family ID, if your state uses one
  • Doctor's notes, referral letter and old reports

Check if your family is covered

Step 1 of 4

Open the beneficiary portal or Ayushman app

Both are official NHA services. The app is on Google Play as "Ayushman App" by the National Health Authority.

Stay safe from Ayushman card frauds

  • The card and the treatment cover are free. Nobody needs a fee to "approve" you.
  • Never share an OTP with a caller who says they are from Ayushman Bharat.
  • Use only the government sites linked on this page, which end in .gov.in.

Good to know

  • AB PM-JAY gives eligible families cashless hospital treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh a year at empanelled public and private hospitals.
  • Every empanelled hospital has an Ayushman help desk (often called Ayushman Mitra). Go there first with your card or Aadhaar.
  • Making the Ayushman card is free. Do not pay anyone who promises a card, a quicker "approval" or a hospital seat.
  • Rules, packages and hospitals change. The official finder and helpline 14555 always have the latest position.

Questions people ask

Why do you not show the hospital list here?

The national list of empanelled hospitals is not published as open data, so we cannot copy it legally or keep it up to date. The official NHA finder is always current, so we take you there with clear steps.

Who gets the Ayushman Vay Vandana card?

Every person aged 70 or above, whatever their income. It gives cover of up to Rs 5 lakh a year. If the family is already under PM-JAY, the senior gets an extra top-up of up to Rs 5 lakh for themselves.

I have CGHS or ECHS. Can I also take Vay Vandana?

Senior citizens in CGHS, ECHS or Ayushman CAPF must choose either their current scheme or AB PM-JAY. People with private insurance or ESI can still get the Vay Vandana card.

How do I check if my family is eligible?

Open the official beneficiary portal or the Ayushman app, log in with your mobile number and OTP, and search with the details it asks for. You can also call 14555 or ask at any empanelled hospital or Common Service Centre.

Is any of my information sent to IndiaDigital?

No. This page has no form. All checks happen on the official government sites we link to.
