How it works
- Still given (Railway Minister’s reply in Parliament, August 2025): persons with disabilities (divyangjan), patients in 11 categories and students in 8 categories.
- The senior citizen concession was withdrawn in March 2020 and has not been restored as of our check.
- Exact percentages depend on the category and class; the booking counter or IRCTC applies them when you show the right certificate.
Questions people ask
Can I book a concession ticket online?
Divyangjan with a Railway photo identity card can book online on IRCTC using the card number. Apply for the card at divyangjanid.indianrail.gov.in. Most patient and student concessions need the certificate shown at a reservation counter.
Is the senior citizen concession back?
Not as of 2 November 2026. Lower berths are still given to seniors where available (lower berth quota), but not a fare discount.
