Set it up in 5 minutes

  1. Install Meghdoot and choose your state and district. Turn on notifications.
  2. Install Damini and allow location, so lightning warnings reach you in the field.
  3. Before spraying or harvesting, check the district warning colour for the next two days.
  4. On a red or orange warning, move harvested crop and animals to shelter and stay indoors during storms.

IndiaDigital does not republish IMD forecasts: IMD gives its data and API on request under its own terms, and we do not scrape. Links go to official IMD, ICAR and IITM sources.

How it works

  • We do not copy IMD forecasts onto this site. IMD’s data and API are given on request under its own terms, and we will not scrape them, so we send you straight to the source.
  • Meghdoot gives the forecast together with advice for your crop and animals, in your language. It is made by IMD, ICAR and ICRISAT.
  • Damini warns about lightning near you about 30 to 40 minutes ahead. Lightning kills more people in India than any other weather event, so keep it on during the monsoon.

Questions people ask

Why don’t you show the forecast here?

IMD shares forecast data through its own apps and site, and through an API that needs its approval. Until IMD permits free reuse, linking to the official source is the honest choice.

How do I get crop advice by SMS?

Register with the Kisan Call Centre (1800-180-1551) or your KVK for agromet advisory messages, or use the Meghdoot app.
