How the dates are worked out
- India estimate: the Umm al-Qura calendar (Saudi Arabia) shifted by one day, which matched every Islamic holiday in the central government lists for 2026 and 2027.
- You can switch to the Saudi (Umm al-Qura) or the arithmetic (tabular) calendar.
- Night observances such as Shab-e-Barat and Shab-e-Qadr are shown on the evening they begin.
Questions people ask
Why is the Hijri date in India different from Saudi Arabia?
Each Islamic month begins when the new crescent is seen. The crescent is usually seen in India a day after the Gulf, so Indian dates are often one day behind. Your local Ruet-e-Hilal committee announces the start of each month.
Which Islamic year is it?
From 16 or 17 June 2026 it is 1448 AH. 1449 AH begins on 6 or 7 June 2027.
