Where did my money go?

Open the statement your bank emails you. In a few seconds you see the charges you did not notice, the EMIs and autopays that run every month, and what to do about them.

How it works

  • The file is read inside this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded; it even works in airplane mode.
  • Password-protected PDFs open with the password your bank told you (often your date of birth or customer ID). We use it only to open the file and never keep it.
  • Every statement has a date first and a running balance last, so each entry is worked out from the change in balance. This works for most banks without a special layout.
  • Charges are found from the words banks use for them (for example NON MAINT, SMS CHGS, ACH RTN CHG, DC ANNUAL FEE).
  • A payment to the same name for a similar amount in 3 or more months is shown as repeating: an EMI, an autopay mandate or a subscription.

Questions people ask

Can the bank reverse these charges?

Often, yes, especially the first time. Write to your branch or the bank app’s complaint section with the dates and amounts. If the bank does not reply in 30 days, or you are not happy with the reply, complain free of cost on the RBI Complaint Management System (cms.rbi.org.in).

How do I stop an autopay I no longer want?

For UPI autopay, open the UPI app, find Autopay or Mandates, and cancel it. For NACH or ECS mandates (EMIs, SIPs, insurance), ask the company and your bank to cancel the mandate in writing; do not stop an EMI without talking to the lender.

My bank’s statement did not read well. What now?

Download the statement as CSV or Excel from net banking if you can; it reads perfectly. Some scanned PDFs have no text inside; those need the bank’s own download.
