Take it step by step
- Save the recording from the app using its export or share action. Choose only files you have permission to use.
- Open Audio format converter and choose the saved recording. Pick MP3 for broad playback, WAV for editing, or FLAC for a lossless encoded copy.
- Choose a start and duration only if you want an excerpt. Zero duration keeps the remaining recording. Processing loads the self-hosted media engine on demand.
- Download explicitly, play the beginning and ending, and check the speech before sending it. Converting a lossy recording to WAV cannot restore detail.
A situation to try.
A one-second synthetic 440 Hz WAV tone is supplied through Try an example. Convert it to MP3, download it and check playback. This exercises the same conversion engine without personal speech.
Use the tool’s synthetic example first where available. The example here explains a decision; it is not a reported benchmark result.
Before you call it done.
- Do not rename .ogg to .mp3: select an actual conversion.
- WAV can be much larger than the original compressed voice note.
- Use the audio editor for a precise excerpt and the loudness normalizer for a quiet recording.
- The 150 MB total media-job limit protects device memory; split larger batches.
Know the limits.
Decoder availability depends on the bundled FFmpeg build. Automated tests decode generated exports from synthetic fixtures using that exact WASM build, with a Node transport substitute. They do not certify every phone, recorder or corrupt input. Files are not uploaded.
This tool’s current boundary: Available decoders depend on the bundled engine. Converting to lossless does not restore lost detail.
Evidence and scope
Technical source guidance and task-specific output checks. These do not establish that every file, browser or device passes.
Use the checks above on your own exported result. A source explains the format or mechanism; it is not proof that this export preserved every feature.
