Class 6 Maths कक्षा 6 गणित

Unlimited Class 6 maths practice: large numbers, whole numbers, factors, HCF and LCM, integers, fractions, decimals, perimeter and area, ratio, algebra patterns, angles and data handling, with hints and worked steps.

Knowing our numbers

Place value in the Indian number systemPlace value = digit × value of its place (ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, lakhs, ten lakhs, crores).
Rounding off and estimationLook at the digit just right of the rounding place: 5 or more rounds up, less than 5 rounds down.

Whole numbers

Whole number properties for quick calculationUse the distributive property a × (b + c) = a × b + a × c and clever grouping to multiply mentally.

Playing with numbers

Integers

Integers in daily lifeUse + for up, above, gain or deposit and − for down, below, loss or withdrawal. Then add on a number line.

Fractions

Equivalent fractions and simplest formDivide top and bottom by their HCF to get the simplest form. Multiply both by the same number for an equivalent fraction.

Decimals

Decimals with money and measuresLine up the decimal points before adding or subtracting. 100 paise = ₹1, 1000 g = 1 kg, 100 cm = 1 m.

Mensuration

Perimeter and area of rectangles and squaresRectangle: perimeter = 2(l + b), area = l × b. Square: perimeter = 4a, area = a × a.

Ratio and proportion

Ratio, proportion and the unitary methodSimplify a ratio like a fraction. Unitary method: find the value of one, then multiply.

Algebra

Algebra with matchstick patternsA pattern rule like 3n + 1 tells you how many sticks are needed for n shapes.

Understanding elementary shapes

Angles on a clock and turnsA full turn is 360°. Each hour mark on a clock is 30° apart. A right angle is a quarter turn (90°).

Data handling

Read pictographs and bar graphsEach symbol stands for a fixed number. Multiply the number of symbols by that value.
