Worked examples

Example 1 · level 1

A cuboid tiffin box is 10 cm long, 13 cm wide and 9 cm high. Find its volume (in cm³).

Show solution
  1. V = 10 × 13 × 9 = 1,170 cm³.

Answer: 1,170

Example 2 · level 2

A cylindrical pillar has radius 21 cm and height 6 cm. Find its volume (in cm³). Use π = 22/7.

Show solution
  1. V = πr²h = 22/7 × 21 × 21 × 6
  2. = 8,316 cm³.

Answer: 8,316

Example 3 · level 3

A cylindrical pillar has radius 7 cm and height 14 cm. Find its total surface area (in cm²). Use π = 22/7.

Show solution
  1. TSA = 2πr(r + h) = 2 × 22/7 × 7 × (7 + 14)
  2. = 924 cm².

Answer: 924
