Unlimited practice for every Class 8 maths chapter: rational numbers, equations, quadrilaterals, data handling, squares and cubes, comparing quantities, algebra, mensuration, exponents, proportion, factorisation, graphs and number play, with hints, worked steps and mistake checks.
Rational numbers
- Add and subtract integersSame signs: add and keep the sign. Different signs: subtract the sizes and keep the sign of the bigger one.
- Add fractions with different denominatorsMake the denominators the same (use the LCM), then add the numerators.
- Multiply and divide fractions (reciprocals)Multiply numerators and denominators. To divide, multiply by the reciprocal of the second fraction.
Linear equations in one variable
Understanding quadrilaterals
Data handling
Squares and square roots
Cubes and cube roots
Comparing quantities
- Find a percentage of an amountx% of an amount = amount × x ÷ 100. 10% is a tenth, 25% a quarter, 50% a half.
- Profit and loss percentageProfit % = profit ÷ cost price × 100. Always divide by the cost price.
- Simple and compound interestSI = P × R × T ÷ 100. Compound amount A = P(1 + R/100)ⁿ, and CI = A − P.
- Discount and GST on a billTake the discount off the marked price first, then add GST on the reduced price.
Algebraic expressions and identities
Mensuration
- Area of a trapezium and a quadrilateralTrapezium area = ½ × (sum of parallel sides) × height. Quadrilateral = ½ × diagonal × (sum of perpendiculars to it).
- Surface area and volume of cuboid, cube and cylinderCuboid: V = lbh, TSA = 2(lb + bh + hl). Cylinder: V = πr²h, CSA = 2πrh, TSA = 2πr(r + h). Use π = 22/7.
