CLASS 10 SCIENCE · CHEMICAL REACTIONS AND EQUATIONS

Types of chemical reactions and redox

Combination: A + B → AB. Decomposition: AB → A + B. Displacement: a more reactive element pushes out a less reactive one. Double displacement: ions are exchanged. Oxidation = gain of oxygen (or loss of hydrogen); reduction = loss of oxygen (or gain of hydrogen).
